AE Babar… Barcelona futsal at its best

On Monday USA Futsal played the most famous, well financed club in the world. On Tuesday we played a grassroots club with an elephant mascot from a gritty Barcelona neighborhood. One day a wood court and the next cement. And to be honest, both were equally as glorious. AE Babar has produced a couple players that went on to star with FCB, however, their main role is to provide their neighborhood youth a safe, healthy place to have fun. Like many grassroots clubs, their staff is unpaid and their time volunteered. A love of the game and the community is at the heart of their existence. Before the game, speeches were spoken, presents exchanged, and hand shakes received. Futsal was yet again a bridge for respect and friendship. An elephant never forgets and neither will we.
